Tyler Becker

R.J. Gibbs, MS

Tyler Becker, MA, CSCS is graduate assistant working in SCVN  and is PhD student  in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition program and also is pursuing a certificate in Epidemiology.  His primary advisor and chair of his dissertation committee is Joseph Carlson, PhD.  Tyler’s dissertation will include an analyses from the (S)Partner for Heart Health program:   1) a cross sectional evaluation of nutrition behaviors and cardiovascular disease risk factors and evaluate differences between rural and urban boys and girls.  2) A comparison of changes in nutrition behaviors and cardiovascular disease risk factors and evaluate differences between rural and rural and urban boys and girls.   His current roles as a graduate assistant are as a team leader for (S)Partners for Heart Health, floor manager for Spartan Performance, teaching  assistant for HNF 457 Sports Nutrition, and lab manager in Radiology’s  exercise physiology lab. Tyler earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise/health science from Alma College (2011) and master’s degree in exercise science from Central Michigan University (2013). He has been a NSCA certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) since 2012. He has worked with a variety of athletes of all ages specializing in youth athletes.
